What does it mean to be a follower of Christ? Among ten thousand other things one can talk about, I believe it’s the godly love. Jesus once said to His disciples, For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? – Mt. 5:46-47. I’ve learned that to return evil for good is devilish; to return evil for evil is human; and to return good for evil is divine. We Christians are to love others. We are to love those that gossip behind our backs. Those that discriminate against us. Even those that mistakenly enter our brother’s apartment while he’s eating vanilla ice scream and watching TV and think that he is a burglar and shoot him dead. To love is not at all an easy task.
